7 Effective Remedies for Muscular Cramps


Back muscles
Muscular cramp is a medical terms used for contraction of body muscles. Our body consists of various muscles in legs, arms, shoulder and in other body parts. When sudden pressure or force applied to these muscles, they contracts and relax back but in absence of relaxing they remained contracted and is known as muscular cramps. It is a common problem that everyone has experienced one way or other. Many reasons can be responsible causing muscular cramps such as excessive workouts, weakness, vitamins and other useful contents deficiency, injury, chronic diseases and some medications can cause muscular cramps. Various symptoms related to muscular cramps are pain in the cramped muscle, unable to control that particular cramped muscle, hardened muscle surface and uneasiness may occurs.

In most cases of muscular cramp, muscle relaxed back after some time but if the cramp is continued for long time or caused without any specific reason then it is better to consult a doctor. Some herbal remedies are also useful in muscular cramps relief.

Arnica

Arnica is a useful herbal remedy for various health problems like joint and muscular pain, muscular cramps and swelling. Arnica has various medicinal qualities like antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antimicrobial, analgesic and antiseptic properties. Arnica can be used internally by taking 4 drops daily at night or you can use arnica oil or tincture for massaging over the affected muscle to get relief.

Turmeric is a wonderful pain reliever and useful for cramps, fractures, skin infections, oral infections, swelling, itching and other health problems. Turmeric has antibacterial, antiviral, antiseptic, antioxidant, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains various useful contents like iron, potassium, magnesium and fibers. Muscular cramp treatment with turmeric includes consuming turmeric with warm milk two times a day for 4-5 days or taking raw turmeric with honey. Other method is mix raw turmeric powder with mustard oil to make paste and apply over the affected muscle for relief.

Chamomile

Chamomile is widely used for pain relief, muscular cramps and inflammation, diabetes, wounds and various other purposes. Chamomile has various medicinal properties like antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial. It is also acts as immune system enhancer and muscular soother. Chamomile can be used as capsule, oil, food additive and tea. For making chamomile tea, take dry chamomile flowers and boil it, add few drops of lemon juice and black salt. Drinking chamomile tea twice daily will help in relieving muscular cramps.
Comfrey tea
Comfrey is another wonderful herbal remedy for muscular cramps. Comfrey has various medicinal qualities like antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and astringent. Comfrey can be used as tincture, oil, ointment and as tea. Take comfrey tea mixed with lemon juice 1-2 times daily will provide relief from muscular cramps. Another method is applying comfrey ointment on the affected muscle 2-3times daily for 3-4 days for muscular cramps relief.

Lemon grass

Lemon grass is also useful in muscular cramps relief. It has antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, ant rheumatic and diuretic properties that can be used in various health problems. Lemon grass helps to relieve and soothe muscles, relieves joint & pain, lowers blood pressure and even minimizes the chances of cancer. You can use lemon grass as cream and ointments, food additive and by making juice with cinnamon and black pepper and sipping it once a day for 3-4 days for muscular cramps relief.


Mustard oil
Mustered oil

Mustered oil is one of the best solutions for muscular cramps, leg cramps and joint pain. Mustered oil contains acetic acid, which is an effective stimulant that ensures the uniform blood flow on the affected area to sooth pain. In various parts of India and many other Asian countries, mustered oil often used for cooking as well. In order to use mustered oil for muscular cramps, take 2-3 ml mustered oil, add some camphor in it, and heat the mixture for 10-15 minutes. Use it for massaging the cramping area after it gets cool enough to apply, massage gently over the joint and muscles to get relief from the cramp. 

Apple Cedar Vinegar

Apple cedar vinegar is another very effective remedy for muscular cramps; we all know that apple cedar vinegar contains potassium in it, which is very effective in relieving muscular cramps. You can use apple cedar vinegar with Luke work water once or twice per day to get relief from muscular cramps.
